Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award in 2015 for the School of Linguistics and Language Studies at Carleton University

I received this during the final year I worked as a Teaching Assistant at Carleton University;

I was complimented to be recognized for my communication capacities while studying at Carleton with this position.  You see, initially, out of high-school I had come to the conclusion that higher education lead to reduced ability to communicate, and on re-introducing myself to studies a few years later, I capitalized on this notion to pursue an alternate course.  With that as my motivation I strived in all of my classes to present that I was capable of delivering instructions and descriptions of the tasks at hand that could be used by others; This at times frustrated my instructors who preferred writing to be succinct, direct and to-the-point.  Once they inquired on my motivation to make projects more time-consuming, many were taken-aback as they had expected confusion, not forward thinking, as I would at times deliver my projects with description of my processes and directions, such that I had a documented approach to similar problems in the future.

While I did not win this acknowledgement, it was still an achievement to be nominated for it.  During my time at Carleton, I had frequently facilitated others in studies, notably my work as a Teaching Assistant for those pursuing Communication studies, as well as my time spent founding and enhancing the student community as a member of the leadership team for the Bachelor of Information Technology Society (BITSoc);

A student society for my school, the School of Information Technology, at Carleton University, where-in I worked during our inaugural year and a number after, until leaving studies.

First Place Associate Bronze; Arthur Murray School of Dance ~ 2012

I began dancing during my re-introduction to studies, early 2012.  I began to get too easily distracted during my time at home.  I then reviewed my activities and recognized that I did not have any physically demanding tasks to funnel my physical energy into, so I reviewed options, and while dancing certainly wasn't at the top of my list initially, I had discovered a coupon for free dancing lessons at Arthur Murray, School of Dance, in Ottawa.
I was initially skeptical as to its' applicability to my future, but I have interest in diverse and significant challenges, so I booked a lesson; And I don't regret a moment on the dance floor since;

I have met many captivating people, and, more remarkable, even found applicability to my studies there, as I met an asset, and mentor, who works in the same career I now do there.

-Regarding this award, it was provided during a competition I visited in Boston, where I danced Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Rumba, Samba and Salsa with the venerable Kaity Valdman.

~ This will become an appreciable example of my capacities to go beyond expectations once we meet.
